Dorothy Jean (Ashcraft) Davis

BRIDGEPORT — Dorothy Jean (Ashcraft) Davis, 90, of Wolf Summit, passed away Friday morning, September 1, 2017, in the United Hospital Center.She was born in Kenmore, OH, on October 22, 1926, a daughter of the late Kenneth Conley Ashcraft and Mabel Pearl (Freeman) Ashcraft.On March 19, 1948, she married George P. Davis, who preceded her in death on April 4, 2013.She is survived by three sons, George M. Davis and his wife Lois, Bridgeport, David L. Davis and his companion Norma Tucker of Wolf Summit, and Kenneth Lee Davis and his wife Robin, of Clarksburg; six grandchildren, Reverend Dr. Christopher Davis and his wife Greta, Curtis Davis and his wife Lori, Travis McBride and his wife Tessa, and Major Phillip B. Davis (USMC) and his wife Lisa, Misty Hutson and her husband Brian, and Rebecca Davis; nine great-grandchildren; and her brother, Lt. Col. (Retired) Marvin Lee Ashcraft of Wolf Summit.In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dickie Joe Davis.Jean was a graduate of Victory High School, Class of 1945, and attended a year of business college.She worked for two years at the Carnation Plant and also for two years at C & P Telephone as an operator, but she was most proud of being a homemaker and making a loving home for her family. She was a member of New Hope Christian Church, Reynoldsville.Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S.
